Guess who’s coming to the Philippines? The Xiaomi Redmi S2!
Just a few days after its successful launch in China, Xiaomi’s newest entry-level smartphone is now set to have its Philippine debut. We give you full details below.
The Xiaomi train is definitely on full steam ahead this year. And if the recent news is to be considered, it seems it’s not stopping anytime soon. The latest addition to the growing family is the Xiaomi Redmi S2, a selfie-centric entry-level smartphone with AI capabilities. Our early prediction? The Chinese brand is bound to make a bigger splash in the Philippine shore.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is reportedly set to retail for ₱7,990 Although steeper than Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A, the Redmi S2 offers more considerably more power and sass.
Plus, at ₱7,990, you get an entry-level smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 2.0Ghz Octa-core CPU, 5.99-inch HD+ Display, an Adreno 506 GPU, and 3GB of RAM.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is also equipped with 12MP dual rear cameras. Opposite of this is a 16MP front camera, which is reportedly powered by an artificial intelligence.

Compared to its price contemporaries – Vivo’s Y71, Oppo’s A71, and Samsung’s J2 Pro – the Redmi S2 seems to be giving consumers the best chip value for the price range involved. This is in line with Xiaomi’s philosophy of giving the best chip possible at the least expensive price possible.
